Third Person Biography

Andrew Ostapenko (aka: Andrew Osta) was born in Kiev, Ukraine in 1982. He immigrated to Canada with his family in 1994. In 2005, Andrew graduated from the University of Toronto with degrees in Philosophy and Computer Science. His philosophical interests focused on philosophy of consciousness and philosophy of religion. During his final year of study, Andrew chose to pursue an artistic career. After graduating with a science degree, he began to paint professionally.

Andrew developed a unique style of painting, where priority is given to color and composition, forms are abstracted, and symbolism is used extensively. “My paintings are open to interpretation. Quite often, there is no single message I would like to convey, but there are multiple messages and stories hidden within my paintings. My work communicates different things to different people, depending on their state of consciousness.”

Keith Widgor, creator of SurrealismNow, called Andrew Osta “A Surrealist Genius.”
Andrew also received recognition from Shahla Rosa, Pablo Amaringo, and other surrealist and visionary artists.

In 2009, Andrew Osta exhibited his paintings in Peru at the 5th International Amazonian Shamanism Conference, sharing the exhibition with the late Pablo Amaringo and David Slokum.

Andrew is an artist in the full sense of the word. Apart from drawing and painting, he writes poetry, lyrics and music. In 2009-2010, Andrew spent a year in Peru and Mexico, writing his non-fiction book, Shamans and Healers and composing music. In 2010-2011, Andrew worked on recording his debut musical CD, Dimension Dream.

His art had been exhibited in Canada, USA, Mexico, South Korea, and Peru. At present, Andrew travels between Canada and Mexico.
